The Regret

we were just looking for a way to escape
from this mundane life for a little while
what seemed to be harmless fun
quickly turned to a form of abuse
A way to dull these emotions
losing control is what i do best
maybe i forgot to mention that
a beautiful mess
when it comes to living life
if only i knew then what i now know
maybe then i could have seen the truth
everything was perfect and right
my heart malfunctioned
i was running from what i created
in search of what i already had
