Assumption

sleeping
it seems
is a normal occurrence
for those of us
who are normal enough.

awake
i believe
is a normal occurrence
for those of us
lacking in normal.

yet to be

Is a word real,
can it make you feel,
or is the feeling created out of the word?

is it all true,
that you feel this way?
maybe it is just imagination,
running away, fast, with your heart.

words do wonder for the soul,
whether they are true or not,
they can alter your being,
and make you believe,
in what is untrue.

words take hold of your heart,
latching on with a mighty force.
grasping until absolutely nothing is left,
squeezing with a deathly hold,
intending to take the course.

these words, they force you:
to follow their actions,
demanding your attention,
they grab all beliefs,
altering, and twisting, everything.

nothing is left;
except, of course,
only this,
alternate universe,
of which you've created,
out of nothing but,
mere words.
